I'm a little concerned that a crowd-sourced user manual was considered the top priority. Why is the existing wiki unsuitable for this? I'm fairly certain you can add revision approval to MediaWiki; German Wikipedia had it for "expert review" at some point.

But first: please, someone in power, tell me FA didn't actually pay $1000 for this.

So it's not really a knowledge base at the moment. It's currently an empty base, soon to be a question base, and then assuming the answers are correct, then it will be a knowledge base.

Assuming the answers are provided, period. It might end up empty for weeks and then quietly get deleted in the hopes people will forget, making that thousand dollars even more of a waste. The forums and wiki could serve this same purpose.

It's more money being tossed at an organizational problem, in this case on redundant, BAD systems when others in use could easily serve the same purpose, while not spending money on what really matters, or even just doing a bit of simple introspection. It's like spending 90% of your yearly budgets hiring consultants to find out why so much money was spent on consultants in the year before.

and why is there a question answer box? when there's not even a question box? given this is so simply, would it really be so hard to change "question title" to just "question" and the "answer to question" box to "details about your question" or something? sheesh.

That was posted months ago on the free wiki that's supposed to do the exact same thing as this $60 software. Nothing has happened with that, and now instead of trying to make MediaWiki work (hint: it works if you're not lazy, hundreds of international companies use it for KB purposes everyday), $60 of money donated by the community has been flushed away on some shitty script that is actually coded worse than FA itself.

Since it's obvious that no thought other than "google.com knowledge base software" went into the research and purchase of this software, I have took 20 minutes to find a better software package.

Request Tracker is used by several large companies, organizations, and universities. It will integrate with FA's user database, as well. Okay, there we go, fixed the trouble ticket issue. But the Knowledgebase issue is still unsolved! Well good thing Request Tracker has a FAQ manager that integrates with the trouble ticket software. Amazing! A legit, professional-looking support site!

Oh, and it's all free.
